Dirt Philosopher

(from the album Ambrosia)
sometimes the dirt philosopher is an angel
she sees a battleground all around
and cries
sometimes the dirt philosopher
is divided by his intellect and trust
and the science of a
baby’s beating heart
sometimes the dirt philosopher
races against the human
race against time to rectify this mess
why? why are we sleeping?
sometimes the dirt philosopher
is dying to electrify
the heads and hearts of her fellowmen
cry, you gotta cry
2012, will you stay with me,
or will you be leaving this town
2012, can you keep up with the pace,
or will you keep running this race
2012, will you pray with me,
or will you be leaving with no trace
what will you do when it all comes tumbling down
who do you love philosopher
what will be left philosopher
what will you do when the walls come crumbling down
out of your mind philosopher
the end of time philosopher
who will you carry when it all comes tumbling down
all hail the dirt philosopher
beneath the veil philosopher
you know the truth is that we’re all just stumbling ‘round
who do you love philosopher
what will be left philosopher
who will you call when the walls come crumbling down
