Band lead sheet, composed by Jacqueline Gawler.
Varkala is a seaside town in Southern India, where black volcanic sand & bustling cliff-top markets prompted the stream-of-consciousness lyrics of this song to be scrawled upon a napkin. From the debut album Ambrosia, this song was also recorded as an A Cappella arrangement by vocal ensemble Coco’s Lunch on their ARIA nominated album Blueprint. Coco’s Lunch also recorded this piece for Melbourne’s PBS Studio Five Live, and it featured on the station’s 2004 compilation CD Form 1 Planet. This song is also taught to ensembles at Nice Conservatorium of Music.
