PANORAMA BRASIL PRESENTS 'JOBIM & DJAVAN' with JACQUELINE GAWLER

Panorama Brasil are back at the Paris Cat with their brand new show, featuring two of Brazil's greatest songwriters - Tom Jobim and Djavan. Vocalist Jacqueline Gawler joins the group for a tour through the musical legacy of these two musical giants. Jobim is well known as the genius behind bossa nova's greatest songs, but his work goes far beyond that genre. Djavan has carved out his own place in Brazilian music, with this year being the 40th anniversary of his breakthrough album - A Voz, o Violao e a Arte de Djavan. For nearly twenty years, esteemed Melbourne pianist Sam Keevers together with 2012 Freedman Fellowship Winner Christopher Hale (bass) and Ryan Menezes (drums) have enjoyed a long association through the legendary Melbourne latin-jazz group Los Cabrones - playing music from Cuba, New York and Puerto Rico. Drawing on influences from the Caribbean, Uruguay, Mexico and Brazil, this trio is joined by Jacqueline Gawler and performs material from Gawler’s debut album ‘Ambrosia’, alongside iconic samba & bossa nova songs, Rio-inspired lyrics and fiery grooves that will ignite your senses!

A new series at Bennetts Lane curated by vocalist/composer Gian Slater that celebrates and promotes original vocal music from a great range of emerging and established artists. The Jacqueline Gawler Band will play songs from Gawler's debut album Ambrosia, as well as new pieces and spoken word inspired by her time in Brazil.
