The Jacqueline Gawler Band performs a glistening body of songs, infused with a rich harmonic language, catchy pop rock nuances, searing lyrics, irresistible vocal choruses, samples and loops – all underpinned by formidable bass lines and intense grooves. The band’s debut album Ambrosia documents original songs of incandescent beauty - stories of humanness, the end of the world, sweaty men, bloated goats & singing flight attendants, offering voluptuous ballads alongside languid rock anthems, intricate world-inspired grooves and sensuous poetry, all crafted and honed by an impressive instrumental line-up.

‘The most intriguing composition is the rapid-fire Varkala, sung so quickly it is almost mandatory to have the lyrics handy at first listening. The deft pacing as Gawler takes us through “ocean blue clean sheet sand feet blue sky blue eyes voice floats men gloat fishing boat bloated goat” is full of playful energy and the expressive words conjure split-second images that stay in the mind. This song, as well as the rhythmically strong and vocally adventurous Sahara nights, demonstrate Gawler’s talent as a songwriter of intelligence, with a sense of poetry and a love of language...’  Roger Mitchell, Ausjazz Blog

‘Forget kangaroos, boomerangs, outback, INXS, AC / DC or Men at Work…One of the most pleasant surprises of the year comes from [Australia] and her name is Jacqueline Gawler…Her album is a delicious mix of beautiful ballads, world music, mature arrangements and powerful lyrics. Her voice ranges from delicate, almost childlike, to jazzy seductress…Influences ranging from Joni Mitchell to the Beatles, and meeting Salif Keita along the way, make each song a unique experience and leave you wanting more. Your finger hits repeat almost automatically after the last track… What fascinates about ‘Ambrosia’ is the complete absence of fear of risk-taking… ‘On My Skin’ is one of the best songs I've heard in a long time…’  A Vida De Solteiro (online magazine) BRAZIL

The Jacqueline Gawler Band play at venues and festivals including Northcote Social Club, Blue Diamond, Paris Cat, Bennetts Lane (Creative Vocal Series curated by Gian Slater), Midsumma Festival, Red Violin and Wesley Anne.

Ambrosia was also launched in Rio De Janeiro BRAZIL in 2011 with some of Rio's finest musicians including Sergio Brandâo on bass (Sergio Mendes), Renato Fonseca on keys (Djavan, Jay Vaquer) & Lucio Vieira on drums.
